Course Experience

• Participated in interdisciplinary teams, conducted primary research, then designed and constructed prototypes for International Truck and Engine Company.
• Conducted research for Carnegie Mellon University and Sima Corporation to develop and implement a campus-wide, location-specific emergency alert system - based on proprietary two-way FM text networking technology.
• Using SolidWorks, defined complex organic forms with boundary representation. Created a prototype of the form with a 3D printer, then cast the form in resin.

• Using Interface design principles, created functional and intuitive interfaces for complex programs. Worked both in teams and individually to write various programs.
• Conducted focus groups with consumers. Identified product needs and generated multiple design solutions. Constructed multiple prototypes for consumer review. Using all feedback, designed and manufactured a fully functional product.
• Using machine and woodshop processes (wood lamination, metal machining and turning, sand casting, investment-scale casting, sand-blasting, wood working, welding, soldering, finishing etc) created a multitude of projects in various media, including wood, metals and plastics.
